The Remington Model 870 is a U.S.-made pump-action shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms Company, Inc. It is widely used by the public for sport shooting, hunting, and self-defense. It is also commonly used by law enforcement and military organizations worldwide.

In Project Reality, the Remington Model 870 is used by Canada, Germany, IDF, Hamas, and Insurgent factions, as well as Vietnam-era US Army & Marines. The use of a western shotgun by insurgent organizations is strange, and might be currently in as a placeholder for a more suitable shotgun. One theory might be the possibility of Norinco HP9-1 shotguns, a copy of the M870, might have made their way into the hands of insurgent organizations.

  • An alternate deploying animation (called "gangsta" in the game files) shows the soldier bringing the weapon up from the left hand and pumping it one handed, much like in action movies.
